Founded in 1883, Wente Vineyards is the country’s oldest continuously operated, family-owned winery and a leading industry influencer right from the start. Today, they sustainably farm 3,000 acres across the Central Coast. In 1912, Ernest Wente persuaded his father to import Chardonnay vine cuttings from France into Livermore Valley, ultimately creating what is now known as the Wente Clone, from which over 75% of all California Chardonnay stems.
