Rum is a classification of spirits made from sugarcane or its syrup, or from molasses, a by-product of sugar production. Most of the world's rum is made from molasses and is typically produced in the Caribbean and Latin America, although it can be produced anywhere in the world. Rum can be clear (white), either un-aged or aged then filtered. It can also be Gold, with some aging, or Dark with 5-7 or more years of aging.
