Infused with the warmth of spices and the sweetness of ripe oranges, this liqueur is perfect for fall nights. Enjoy it in cocktails, drizzled over desserts, or simply sipped neat.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 large navel oranges, zest and juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Zest the oranges carefully, avoiding the white pith, and place the zest in a large glass jar.

Squeeze the juice from the oranges and add it to the jar with the zest.

In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water, heating gently until the sugar dissolves to create a simple syrup.

Pour the syrup into the jar, followed by the vodka. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and vanilla extract to the mixture.

Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool, dark place for two weeks, shaking gently every few days.

After two weeks, strain the liqueur through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bottle, discarding the solids.

Seal the bottle and let it rest for an additional week to allow flavors to meld.
