The delicate sweetness of saké complements the rich flavor of salmon, creating a dish that's both festive and flavorful.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1/2 cup saké
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (optional, for garnish)

Directions

In a bowl, whisk together saké, soy sauce, mirin, honey, and grated ginger to create the marinade.

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the marinade over them. Allow the salmon to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the marinated salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the salmon is cooked to your liking.

While the salmon is baking, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat until it thickens into a glaze.

Brush the glaze over the cooked salmon fillets. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish.

Plate the saké-glazed salmon and serve with your favorite sides for a festive and flavorful Christmas dish.
