This drink combines bold red wine with a spooky mix of fruits and spirits, creating a flavorful potion perfect for your festive celebration. Bursting with flavors of citrus and berries, paired with playful notes of cinnamon and star anise, it’s an irresistible elixir that will have your guests spellbound.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 medium orange, sliced
  • 1 medium apple, cored and diced
  • 1 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise (optional)
  • 1 cup soda water (to top off)
  • Ice cubes
     

Directions

In a large pitcher or cauldron, combine the red wine, orange juice, brandy, apple cider, and simple syrup.

 

Add the sliced orange, diced apple, blackberries, and pomegranate seeds for a festive look.

 

Stir in the cinnamon sticks and star anise for a warm spice aroma.

 

Refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld.

 

Before serving, check the sweetness and adjust with more simple syrup if preferred.

 

Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the sangria over the ice, topping each glass with a splash of soda water for fizz.

 

Garnish with additional fruit slices or a cinnamon stick for an eerie yet elegant finish.
