The region of Mendoza accounts for more than 70% of Argentina's wine production. It is protected from the rain from the west by the Andes mountains, and the climate is almost desert-like. The region can be divided into 5 sub-regions: Northern, Eastern, Central, Uco Valley, and Southern. The region is planted with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda, and Chardonnay and produces all quality wines.
